Employees by gender

Across the business gender representation has remained relatively constant. The increases in female representation at the senior manager level reflects the impact of a revised cohort as a result of reporting system changes.


  • Includes fixed term, permanent full-time, and permanent part-time employees on a headcount basis as at 30 June. Excludes casuals, labour hire and contract workers.

  • In recognition that there is a greater diversity of gender identity within the workforce, AGL’s data systems have been updated to allow employees to record their gender as male, female or transgender. AGL will not report our people data based on male/female/transgender until the number of transgender employees recording their preferred gender in our employee systems reaches a threshold at which privacy can be protected.

  • In November 2018, AGL tranisitioned to the Workday Human Resources Information System which resulted in changed employee groupings. For FY19 data, groupings are based on AGL's management structure, which no longer categorises Team Leaders separately.

  • Data for FY15 onwards includes AGL Macquarie.
