Carbon intensity of operated generation assets
The greenhouse gas intensity of AGL's operated generation portfolio decreased in FY19 due to an increase in renewable energy generation and a decrease in brown coal generation. Market intensity decreased due to an increase in renewable generation.
Notes
These figures relate to the greenhouse gas emissions (scope 1 and scope 2) intensity of generation assets over which AGL has operational control, regardless of who owns the asset.
Assets where AGL controls or has rights to the electricity output only are not included.
Greenhouse gas emissions have generally been calculated in accordance with methodologies under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007.
Electricity generation is measured on a 'sent-out' basis at the power station gate.
Average market intensity is the weighted average Carbon Dioxide Equivalent Intensity Index of the National Electricity Market, as determined from data published by AEMO.
Generation and greenhouse gas emissions associated with AGL Macquarie assets are included from the date of AGL's acquisition on 2 September 2014.
Greenhouse gas emissions include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulphur hexafluoride (as applicable).
