Air emissions - oxides of nitrogen (NOx)
Emissions at Liddell Power Station increased in FY19 due to increased coal and diesel consumption. Emissions at Somerton Power Station increased during FY19 due to an increase in electricity generation while at Newcastle Gas Storage Facility emissions increased due to increased flaring activity. A decrease in emissions at Bayswater is primarily due to improved furnace efficiency in Unit 1 and implementation of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems across all units for the full FY19 reporting period. A decrease in emissions at AGL Torrens was mainly due to a reduction in the combustion of natural gas for electricity generation. The decrease in emissions from AGL Loy Yang was due to a decrease in electricity generation resulting from unplanned outages. Emissions decreased at Silver Springs Oil and Gas Project due to a decrease in fuel combustion. The National Assets portfolio was sold during FY19 and no longer reported.
All figures have been restated to the nearest kilogram.
FY19 data was updated in December 2019. A subset of data (comprising emissions associated with the combustion of black coal at Bayswater and Liddell power stations, black and brown coal as well as natural gas at AGL Loy Yang Power Station, and gas and fuel oil at AGL Torrens) was reported with the initial release of the FY19 Annual Report on 08 August 2019.
Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) was introduced to Units 2, 3 and 4 at Bayswater Power Station in November 2017.
FY15 data for Bayswater and Liddell power stations represents emissions from the facilities for the full financial year, although AGL only commenced operating these facilities from 2 September 2014.

Hydrocarbon Extractions ceased production in October 2014.
The National Assets were sold in FY19.
Wallumbilla LPG Plant became operational in 2016 hence NPI reporting commenced in FY17.
